Madeline ‘Mitzi’ P. Loeffelad, age 81, of Merrill, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI, under the care of Ministry Hospice. She was born on January 7, 1939 to the late Rudolph and Freda (Dasenbrock) Schneider in Milwaukee, WI. Mitzi attended and graduated from Milwaukee High. She furthered her education by attending and graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Psychology and she was a proud member of the university’s marching band. Mitzi met the love of her life and soulmate, Walter ‘Wally’ H. Loeffelad, and the two exchanged marriage vows on December 31, 1975 in Milwaukee. Sadly, Wally passed away on January 28, 2017.
Mitzi was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She was always working on her crafts, whether it was knitting, sewing, ceramics or quilting – she was very talented and creative. Mitzi enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada with her husband, as well as fishing trips with him. Mitzi and Wally split their time between a lake cottage in West Bend, WI and Florida before moving to Merrill in 1995. Mitzi also enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, painting and playing the piano. She was excited and proud of her Best of Show award that she received during the Lincoln County Fair for her quilting. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mitzi is survived by her daughter: Becky (Duane) Yorde of Merrill, stepson: Walter J. (Debbie) Loeffelad of West Bend, stepdaughter: Linda Loeffelad of Georgia, granddaughters: Kailey Bender (Alex Mueske), Alyssa Cruise (Lane Lines), Sara (Landon Balster), Hannah, and Emma Loeffelad, and Amy Mae Loeffelad, great grandsons: Carson and Connor Cruise and Wes Mueske and sister-in-law: Anita (Andrew) Vissers of Fond Du Lac, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Diana Schneider.
Private family graveside services will be held at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Any remembrances may be given to the Lincoln County Humane Society as Mitzi loved animals. A special thank you from the family to Ministry Hospice and Seasons of Life for the care they provided.
