Bette Baumann

Bette Jane Baumann, age 94, of Merrill, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Rennes in Weston, WI, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.  She was born on December 21, 1927, to the late Henry and Elsie (Neuman) Litke in Merrill.  She met Edwin Hahn and the two exchanged marriage vows on October 19, 1946.  Sadly, he passed away in 1958.  She then met Theodore “Teddy” Baumann, and they were married on March 30, 1961, but sadly, he passed away in 2015.

Bette worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Merrill for 25 years, until her retirement.  She also enjoyed working and helping where she could on the family farm, especially driving the tractor!  Bette was a very family-oriented woman that adored her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved flowers, especially lily’s, petunias, daffodils and gladiolus.  Bette looked forward to working in her gardens at home and was an excellent cook!  She had very skilled hands and was an avid knitter that would make baby caps for Aspirus.  Bette also enjoyed listening to her old records and enjoyed the music of Lawrence Welk, Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley.  She is remembered as a tough woman that had a caring and loving spirit.  Bette was a woman of strong faith and her relationship with the Lord was important to her.  She was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River.  Bette will be sadly missed, but the memories will live on.

Bette leaves behind her children: Susan (Ronald) Pfantz of Merrill, Allan (Dianna) Hahn of Mosinee, Christine Baumann of Merrill, Todd (Kim) Baumann of Wausau, Sherri (Robert) Mielke of Wausau and Timothy Baumann of Wausau, along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband: Edwin Hahn, her second husband: Theodore “Teddy” Baumann, son: Jack Hahn and siblings: Dorothy Drew, Harold Litke, Robert Litke, Henrietta Schroeder and Glorian Klempke.

The funeral service for Bette will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 11am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River.  Rev. Greg Laska will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 9am until the time of the service, also at the church.  Burial will immediately follow the service and take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
