Thomas ‘Tom’ Vilter, age 66, of Merrill, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1957 in Wausau, WI to the late George and Elaine (Gebhardt) Vilter. Tom attended and graduated from Athens High School.
Tom recently retired from Northern Wire in Merrill, after working as a welder there for 14 years. Prior to that, Tom drove truck for many various companies and was a mechanic for WH Transportation. He enjoyed sitting around a campfire, spending time with family and friends, as well as his dog, Toby. Tom would also enjoy watching the Packers and Brewers with Denny every chance he had. He is remembered as a straight forward person that had a funny and sarcastic sense of humor! Tom will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Tom leaves behind his children: RayLynn (Tony) Zabawa of Stevens Point, WI, Tiffany Vilter of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Kimberly (Timothy) Stieber of Merrill, WI, Alan Vilter (significant other, Kelly Ratcliff) of Merrill, WI and Crystal (James) Staley of Wausau, WI, 11 grandchildren: Vanessa, Damian, Starla, Tyler, Josh, Isabell, Cloey, Breniece, Makayla, Andrew and Sawyer, brother: Terry Vilter and his beloved fur-baby: Toby. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family inurnment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
