Marjorie "Margie" Rajek

January 5, 1930 — March 18, 2018

Marjorie “Margie” E. Rajek, age 88, of Merrill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Woodland Court Elder Services in Merrill, while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.  Marjorie was born on January 5, 1930 to the late Ed and Florence (Guerin) Schielke in Merrill.  She grew up on the family dairy farm in Gleason.  Marjorie attended and graduated from Merrill High School.  She then attended the County Normal College for 2 years, before earning her bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Steven’s Point.   Marjorie met her soul mate, Harold Rajek, and the two exchanged marriage vows on May 28, 1955 in Doering.  Sadly, Harold preceded her in death on December 27, 2010. Marjorie was a teacher by profession and was passionate about helping kids through their journey of education.  She taught for 40 years, with the majority of that being at the middle school in the Merrill Area School District.  Marjorie’s teaching was focused on English and Social Studies.  She was a past member of the NEA (National Educators Association). Marjorie and Harold owned a hobby farm, and enjoyed caring for their cattle, as well as the wild animals that they enjoyed seeing in the fields.  Marjorie also participated in the Sand Hill Crane Count.  She loved animals of all kinds and would enjoy feeding her birds.  Marjorie was an avid gardener and had many flower gardens and well as planters full of flowers at her home.  She was also a talented cook and baker, and liked to make jams, jellies and breads.  Anything that Marjorie could do outdoors, she did.  She loved the woods and the beauty of her surroundings. Marjorie would also pick boughs and berries.  She was very active in her church and was a woman of strong faith.  Marjorie and her sisters would look forward to singing together at family and friends functions, as well as yodeling.  Marjorie is remembered by her daughters as a loving, independent person that had a gentle soul.  She was always willing to lend a hand.  Marjorie was a long time member of Luther Memorial Church in Gleason.  She will be sadly missed.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters: Mary Jo Rajek (Jerry Wistein), with her sons: Aaron and Sam Tobey and Amy (Scott) Hanneman, with her daughter: Alysa, all of Gleason, brother-in-law: David Jackson, nephew: Dan Jackson (Mary Bauman), niece-in-law: Heidi Jackson, great nieces: Katie and Molly Jackson and very special friends: Kip (Penny) Gryskiewicz and Renate Reichs.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Ed and Florence Schielke, husband: Harold Rajek, sisters: Mary (Joe) Heller and Edna Jackson and nephew: Steven Jackson.

A private memorial service for Marjorie will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be sent to the Lincoln County Humane Society or the Raptor Education Group, Inc, N2160 W. Rollwood Road, Antigo, WI 54409, in Marjorie’s name.

Family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Woodland Court Elder Services for their love and care that they showed to their mom and to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for their support and comfort shown to Marjorie and her family.
