Marilyn Boyd

September 11, 1939 — July 7, 2016

Marilyn Marjorie Boyd, age 76, died on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill, WI. Marilyn was born on September 11, 1939 to the late Harold and Francis (Jensen) Coyer in Gleason, township of Russell. She attended school in Antigo, WI. She met and fell in love with Lloyd Boyd, and the two exchanged vows in Gleason, WI on February 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2005. Marilyn worked at a local millwork factory as a metal fabricator for about 12 years. She then retired and spent her time cooking baking for family and friends. Marilyn volunteered in the kitchen at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill, WI. She also worked as a cook at many local restaurants and at Lincoln Hills. Marilyn was known for her excellent cooking, and has passed that talent along to her children and grandchildren. Marilyn would enjoy spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would love making Christmas cookies with them. In her younger years, Marilyn enjoyed deer hunting with her family. Marilyn loved watching her hummingbirds and would find relaxation in knitting and crocheting. On nice days, she would enjoy spending the day garage saling with her sister, Gwen and her sister-in-law, Harriet, or she would tend to her garden, getting vegetables ready for canning. Marilyn would cherish the time she spent with her grandchildren and the rest of her family, whether it was watching her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, watching game shows or her Lifetime movies. She would also take a few trips to the casino from time to time, as well as participating in Bingo at Les & Jims. Marilyn would take plane rides with her husband, Lloyd. They would go many places, including Michigan and South Dakota. Marilyn was a spunky, strong-willed woman that had a great sense of humor. She was a generous woman that would help anyone in need. Marilyn had always welcomed her children's friends into her home, being like a second mother to them. She will be sadly missed. Marilyn is survived by her 14 children, daughter: Shirley (David) D'Amico of Merrill, son: Michael (Patti) Boyd of Merrill, daughter: Dena Boyd of Wausau, daughter: Brenda (friend, Grant) Busterud of Merrill, daughter: Teresa Hass of Merrill, daughter: Lisa (Greg) Barrett of Merrill, son: Scott (fiancé, Janis) Boyd of Merrill, son: Kenneth (Doris) Boyd of Waukesha, daughter: Tammy (friend, Dean) Boyd of Milwaukee, daughter: Sheila (Rick) Graap of Merrill, son: Shawn Boyd of Merrill, son: Todd (friend, Kelly) Boyd of Merrill, daughter: Paula Boyd of Merrill and daughter: Laura (Michael) Kernan of Tomahawk, 64 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 2 on the way, sisters: Gwen and Dana (Wayne) Podeweltz, sister-in-laws: Harriet and Bonny, brother-in-laws: Bill, Dean, Dale, Gale and Harold and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
