Louise Peterson-Schmidt

July 26, 1929 — July 30, 2019

Louise Lorraine Peterson-Schmidt, age 90, of Merrill passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at her residence, while under the care of Interim Hospice.  She was born on July 26, 1929 to the late Owen and Leonora (Hottenstein) Jones in Oshkosh, WI, and was baptized at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gleason.  She attended Merrill High School and graduated in Mount Morris, IL.  Louise married Glenn C. Peterson on May 8, 1948 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill.  Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 12, 2002 after 54 years of marriage.  Louise married Alfred E. Schmidt on January 2, 2003 in Bessemer, MI.  He survives.

Louise was employed by Lincoln County Bank and managed the Gleason branch for many years.  Louise enjoyed traveling and would take many trips throughout the United States with Alfred, she was an excellent navigator.  She was always looking forward to seeing her daughter and grandchildren and spending precious time with them.  Louise was a strong-willed, caring and brilliant woman that had a servant’s heart.  She was a talented writer and would compose beautiful poems.  Louise was also a skilled artist and would free-hand quite a few of her drawings.  She enjoyed Bingo and being outdoors, appreciating nature.  Louise liked to spend time with her favorite buddy, her dog, ‘Jed’.  She was a member at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill.

Louise is survived by her husband: Alfred E. Schmidt of Merrill; along with his family, daughter: Diane L. Peterson of Rubicon, WI, 2 granddaughters: Angela Vachavake and Melissa Ritchie, brother: Robert (Connie) Jones of Gleason and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Glenn Peterson, daughters: Nancy Peterson and Lynn Marie Peterson, son: James Peterson, brothers: Phillip John and Jimmy and sisters: Rose Marie and Kay

A private graveside service will be held.  Rev. Gregory Laska will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests that donations in Louise’s name be directed to the Lincoln County Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
