Lee Baker

March 30, 1936 — September 20, 2018

Lee R. Baker, age 82, passed away on September 20, 2018 at his home in Merrill.  Lee was born to the late Arthur and Helen (Gronberg) Baker in Manitowac, WI.

The military was a big part of Lee’s life.  He was in the United States Navy for 2 years and he also served in the United States Airforce for 21 years.  He worked as a machinist & welder for Lockwood and Waukesha Bearings for many years.  Lee enjoyed retirement by driving school bus for 10 years for the Rhinelander school district.  He spent time hunting, fishing and camping.  Lee loved to go on road trips with his family and one of the favorite places to visit was upper Michigan.

Lee is survived by his son: Steven (Debbie) Baker, Deerbrook, WI, daughter: Linda (Michael) DeVoy, Ringle, WI, grandchildren: Jennifer (David) Schilling, Pelican Lake, WI, Nathan Baker, Deerbrook, WI, Travis Meister, Pearson, WI, Tawnie (Marc) Beer, Bryant, WI, Lena (Timothy) Hurley, Green Bay, WI, Jedidiah Brietenfeldt, Wausau, WI and many other relatives.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother: Richard Baker.

A memorial gathering to honor Lee’s life will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, WI.  Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, WI.  Merrill VFW post #1638 will perform full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
