John Gildein

John Z. Gildein, age 80, of Irma, WI, died on June 14, 2014 at his home in Irma under the care of Ministry Home Care and Hospice. John was born on September 3, 1933 to Jan and Katarzyna (Szczurek) Gildein in Pinsk, Poland. He served in the army after high school. John worked at LTV Steel Mill in Chicago, IL for 40 years. He met and fell in love with Donna Woodmanse, and they were married on December 9, 1977 in the town of Crown Point, IN. Together, John and Donna moved to Irma 18 years ago and have been here ever since. John loved the landscape and nature in this area of the country. He enjoyed just being out in the fresh air, working in his yard or tinkering with his projects in the garage. John loved his family, they were very important to him. He was an avid bowler and would get in a game when he was able. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife, Donna Gildein of Irma; daughter, Janet (Jim) Tracy of Chesterton, IN; son, John (Patricia) Gildein of Kouts, IN; grandchildren, John, Kevin, Michael, Erin and Renee'; great- grandchildren, Blake, John, Samuel and Camryn; brother, Marion (Chris) Gildein of Crown Point, IN; sister, Irene (Thomas) Bolek of Portage, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alex (Jane) Gildein. A funeral mass will be held on June 18, 2014 at 2PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill. Father Michael McLain will officiate. Visitation will take place at Waid Funeral Home on June 18, 2014 from 12PM until the time of the mass. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Francis Xavier Catholic cemetery. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
