Isabelle Pierce

September 24, 1923 — November 27, 2018

Isabelle went to be with the Lord at her home on November 27, 2018 surrounded by loving family members.  She was born on September 24, 1923 in Elk Mound, WI to the late Glenn and Antonia (Lackner) Schreiner.  Isabelle married Willard (Pat) Pierce on June 27, 1945 in Menominee, WI.  He preceded her in death.

Isabelle was loved by her many family members and friends, including her six brothers and sisters, ten children, 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and numerous friends across the United States.  Isabelle grew up on farms in Wisconsin, during which, if given a choice would prefer to work outside, in the fields, with the horses, or in the barn.  She worked her way through college and earned a degree from Eau Claire College and was certified to teach in Wisconsin, starting in a one room school house.  Isabelle married Willard (Pat) Pierce, a career sailor, and together they raised ten children.  Isabelle and her family moved often having lived in over three dozen homes throughout her lifetime; has traveled to all 50 states; panned for gold in Alaska, walked the beaches of Hawaii, saw the potato fields of Maine, and traveled countless miles all over the back roads of the United States of America. Also, an international traveler, she visited the Vatican and read on the altar in Italy; and logged thousands of miles driving throughout Canada and Mexico.  She was an accomplished homemaker and talented seamstress: whether for polka-dot Easter outfits, wool suit jackets or ties, costumes for the high school musicals, Western style outfits for an entire (marching, precision, competitive) drill team, or a wedding dress, and dresses for the wedding party - imagine three weddings in one summer.  Isabelle was always active in a wide variety of activities for the Church including cooking, prayer chain, and coordinating events. She was trained and commissioned by the Bishop of La Crosse Diocese to serve as a Lay Minister for Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Survivors include her loving children: Rev. Patrick (Leone) Pierce, Mosinee, WI, Kathleen Pierce Dussault, Marshfield, WI, Susan (Ed) Meyer, Marathon, WI, Jeanne Featherstone, Timnath, CO, Mary (Larry) Vitek, Crystal Lake, IL, Dr. Michael (Mary Jane) Pierce, Lake Oswego, OR, Ann (Terry) Tiffany, Merrill, WI, Willard (Ruth) Pierce, Newberg, IN, Thomas Pierce, Lake Tomahawk, WI, 23 grandchildren,  30 great grandchildren and numerous friends.

Preceded in death by parents, husband, youngest daughter, Ruth, son in law, Joseph Featherstone, and daughter in law, Karen Pierce.

Memorial Mass will be 11 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Marshfield, WI.  Fr. Doug Robertson will be officiating.  Burial will be in Marshfield Catholic Cemetery.
