Herbert, “Herb,” Albert Falk, Jr., 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on December 15, 2021 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services after a long struggle with heart disease.
Herb was born on September 9, 1947 to Herbert A. Falk, Sr. and Lilamae F. Hommerding in Merrill, Wisconsin.
While attending Merrill High School, Herb met his sweetheart, Mary Louise Schubert. They were married on July 12, 1969 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Merrill. Mary is his true love. They travelled often, especially to escape Wisconsin Winters for warmer weather down South.
At the time of his retirement, Herb was a lathe operator at Marathon Electric in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was a “jack-of-all trades” and could fix anything. In his younger years, Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing. His hobbies included camping, eating at his favorite restaurant CHIPS, and woodworking. He enjoyed teaching woodworking and leather crafts to 4-H children. He was a member of the Lincoln County Fair Board for many years.
He loved spending time with his family, friends, and camping family. He was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour westerns and handyman magazines.
Herb will be remembered for his funny, happy-go-lucky personality and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Herb is survived by his wife, Mary Falk; children: Shane (Becky) Falk, and Holly (Ryan) Hoffman; Grandchildren: Taylor Pitel, Morgan Falk, Dorsey Falk, Sydney Hoffman, Payton Hoffman, and Rainan Falk; Sisters-in-Law: Eunice Schubert, Bonnie Mueller, Virginia Schubert, and Sherry Schubert, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers-in-Law: Lawrence Schubert, Kenwood Schubert, William Mueller, Dale Schubert, and Jack Schubert, Sister-in-Law: Y-Vette Karpinski and nephew Robert Mueller.
