Henrietta 'Etta' P. Schultz

December 3, 1929 — April 17, 2023

Merrill

Henrietta “Etta” Schultz, 93, was born in Wausau, Wisconsin to Harold Elson and Theophilia ‘Theo’ Golla Elson on December 3, 1929 and passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 at home with her family by her side.

Etta was met at heaven’s door by her maker, her husband Wib, her parents, her daughter, Connie Tessmer, her grandson, Garrett Schultz, and siblings Delores Jonas, Myra Schuster, Phyllis Corda, LaVern Elson, and Mary Elson.  She is survived by her brother Russell Elson of Tucson, AZ, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Etta attended Wausau Senior High School.  She was the founder of Al-Anon in the Wausau area.  She was employed at H.C. Pranges, North Central Technical College as an instructor for DUI classes, Lincoln Hills, The Best Western, and Westwood Conference Center.  In her younger years she and Wib enjoyed traveling the state for square dancing conventions.  Etta was an avid seamstress, sewing for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was also very talented at knitting and crocheting.  She made 76 afghan blankets over the years for family members.  She was also an excellent cook and baker; making family meals for the holidays was one of her many joys.

Etta was married to Wilbur “Wib” Schultz on June 15, 1946 in Wausau after meeting at a dance at the Labor Temple.  They enjoyed 64 years together raising their children, Connie (Duane) Tessmer, Barbara Herrington, Randy (Marge) Schultz, Terry (Jeannine) Schultz, Sue Duranceau, Mary Schultz, Chris (Deonn) Schultz and Sandra Adamski.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. for Etta and Wib together at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in Wausau with military funeral honors for Wib.

The siblings would like to thank their sister Barbara for taking such great care of their mom for the past 12 years and their sister Sue for assisting the last several years. This allowed Etta to remain in her home as she wanted to up until the time of her passing. Barb’s care and devotion made Etta’s last years the best they could be…

Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
