Girard Chieves

November 15, 1939 — March 21, 2020

Girard Joseph Chieves died peacefully on March 21st, 2020 at Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill WI under Hospice care at the age of 80 from a short battle with lung cancer.

Girard is survived by his sister, Margel Florida & Brother James Chieves, Florida. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Chieves after 23 years of marriage.

Girard Joseph Chieves was born on 11/15/1939 in The Township of Morgan, Greene County, PA to Carl & Margaret Chieves. After high School he joined the Air Force on December 5th, 1956 and started basic training in Lackland AFB, Texas. After completing basic training, he went on to becoming an AC&W operator in the Air Force base in Keesler AFB, Mississippi. After leaving the military, he moved back to Wisconsin and married Carol Renko on 10/17/1959. He then began his career as an electrician in Milwaukee WI and they resided in Wind Lake WI. Over time, the couple welcomed 4 children, John Chieves, Waterford WI, Colleen Burgener, Tomahawk WI, Michael Chieves, Palmyra WI & Patrick Chieves, Merrill WI. He then married Carol Fuller on 02/25/1995 in South Milwaukee WI and gained a stepdaughter Brenda Siebers, Elkhorn, WI. His finished his lifelong career as an electrician in Milwaukee WI and he retired at the age of 71. He and Carol moved back to Merrill WI for their retirement years. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His children will always remember him for his sense of humor and many talents.

A funeral is not yet scheduled but will have a pending date at Waid Funeral Home, 301 South Eagle Dr, Merrill WI with a prayer service and all are welcome to attend Jerry’s celebration of life. The family would like to thank Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital & Hospice Care for the great care and dedication they provided for their father.
