Dale Kopetzky

Dale D. Kopetzky, age 85, of Merrill, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born November 18, 1931 in Merrill to the late Joseph E. and Martha M. (Zimmerman) Kopetzky. On May 23, 1953, Dale and Muriel L. Annis were united in marriage in Merrill. She survives. Dale was a 1950 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from Oct. 30, 1951 – Oct. 30, 1955. Dale worked as a Soda Jerk while in high school. After his military service he worked for ACME Tree Service and finished off his career with Wisconsin Public Service as a lineman. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the shack, and all of nature's critters. Dale enjoyed trips to Canada with his friends and his sons, Jim & Jon to Alaska. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and celebrating their achievements. Dale loved gardening, logging, hunting and spending time with his family. After retirement he took bus trips with Muriel to see the country. He loved his pets dearly, especially his dogs. Dale was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his seven children: Teresa Kopetzky, Tomahawk, Michael (Ranee) Kopetzky, Merrill, Mark (Amy) Kopetzky, Wausau, Patti (Russell) Skidmore, Merrill, James (Angela) Kopetzky, Wausau, Jill (Norman) Obremski, Merrill, and Jonathan (Loretta) Kopetzky, South Range, WI; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren: and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Kopetzky. Funeral Services for Dale will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Waid Funeral Home and again from 10 AM until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery. Waid Funeral Home and Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
