Beulah Erickson

Beulah Erickson, age 88, of Merrill, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on December 6, 1929 to the late Gustav and Hattie (Reinke) Ney in Merrill.  Beulah grew up in Merrill, and eventually met the love of her life, Robert Erickson.  The two exchanged vows on March 10, 1945 in Merrill.  Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 30, 1991.

Beulah was an avid knitter, even making beautiful quilts for missions and afghans for each of her grandchildren .  She enjoyed the outdoors and would go camping and fishing every chance she had.  Beulah would also simply enjoy the peace and quiet of reading a good book.  She would occasionally take trips to the casinos with family and friends.  Beulah was a baseball fan, cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.  Beulah had a strong faith and cherished her family.  She was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River, and was considered the Matriarch of the church.

Beulah will be sadly missed by her children: Larry (Susan) Erickson, Donna (Martin) Stenberg, Sharon (Thomas) Marmes, Dale (Darlene) Erickson, Darwin Erickson, Crystal Hoeffler, Darrell (Cindy) Erickson, Carol (Norman) Hanson, Peggy (Mark) Kroening, Jeanne (Kyle) Schubring, Sandy (Jim Brennan) Leskey and Lori (Robert “Butch”) Giese, sisters: June (Daniel) Price and Vivian (Gary) Albright, sister-in-law: Dorothy Klade, 32 grandchildren, 74 (Yes, 74!) great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Robert Erickson, son: Mark Erickson, son-in-laws: Bob Bruenig, Bruce Leskey and John Hoeffler, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother: Sheldon Ney and 4 sisters: Elsie, Erna, Nathalie “Rusty” and Marian, brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Beulah will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River.  The Rev. Gregory Laska will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4pm-8pm at Waid Funeral Home, and again on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 9am until the time of the service, at the church.  Burial will follow the service and take place at the St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Pine River.  Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
