Beryl Lewinnek, 93, died April 10, 2009 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Services.

Mrs. Lewinnek was born October 28, 1915, in Antigo, to Oscar and Clara Nelson. She graduated from Antigo High School and from the Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee. In 1940, she married Walter Lewinnek, MD. They moved to Merrill in 1947 where they became very involved in the community.

Beryl took great pleasure in sailing and hiking with her husband, in their travels across the country and to Europe, and in providing wonderful meals to friends and family visiting her home.

Beryl is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and by her siblings Iris Johnson of Milwaukee and Eric Nelson of Antigo. She is survived by her children George Lewinnek of Fitchburg, MA, and Susan Lewinnek Murray (and husband Robin) of Melrose, MA; four grandchildren: Karen Teelin, her husband Tim and son Owen, of Fayetteville, NY; Elaine Lewinnek, her husband Ben and daughter Sophie of Cardiff, CA; David Lewinnek and his wife Shana of Somerville, MA; and Sarah Murray of Chicago, IL; and by her sister-in-law Jane Nelson and numerous nieces, nephews, long-time friends and neighbors.
