Alice J. Krueger, age 80 of Merrill, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
Alice was born August 31, 1929 in Merrill, the daughter of Bernard and Martha (Hollman) Walenczyk. Alice and LaVern “Blitz” Krueger were united in marriage May 20, 1950 in Merrill, Blitz preceded her in death in 1992.
Alice began working at the hospital at age 15, and later became a nurses aide, she also worked as a home care provider. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, playing cards and games with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include: son: Scott Krueger, Escanaba, MI
Daughter: Sarah (Gene) Pfantz, Merrill,
6 grandchildren: Jason (Amber) Krueger, Marquette, MI
John (Sheila) Krueger, Escanaba, MI
Nichole Krueger, Norway, MI
Tyler, Elizabeth, and Matthew Pfantz all of Merrill,
6 great grandsons: Courage, Samuel, Tyler, Cadence, Evan, and Aaron.
2 sisters: Vivian Hommerding, and Judy (Vern) Warren all of Merrill,
Sister in law: Gerane (Roger) Brandt, Merrill,
And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern, son, Jay, parents, 3 sisters Marie Wenzlick, Joyce Walenczyk, Dorothy Walenczyk, brother, Bernard Walenczyk Jr., and grandson, Zachary.
Funeral Mass will be 12:00 pm Wednesday, May 19, at St. Francis Catholic Church, The Rev. Fr. James Horath will officiate, with burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the church. If desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or the T. B. Scott Library.
