Veleeta Marie Wenzlick

August 7, 1932 ~ August 15, 2018 (age 86)

Veleeta Marie Wenzlick, age 86, of Merrill died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill.  She was born on August 7, 1932 to the late Harold D. and Gladys I. (Kortz) Hoffman in Arkansas, WI.  Veleeta married Russell “Bud” Wenzlick on March 31, 1951 in Merrill.  He preceded her in death on January 22, 1982.

Veleeta was a homemaker, wife and mother.  She enjoyed making plastic canvas designs and sending them to the veteran’s hospital.  Veleeta had a talent for crocheting and was an avid reader.  She liked to play Words with Friends on her computer at home.  Veleeta volunteered for many years at the Enrichment Center in Merrill.  She was a member of the Eagles Club, Evening Womens Fellowship and the North Country Riders Motorcycle Club.  Veleeta was a friend of the Christ United Methodist Church in Merrill.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Veleeta is survived by her daughters: Terri (Paul) Phillips of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Karen (Charles) Brock of Elkton, Maryland, Wendy (Elroy) Wiesman of Merrill and Debra Wenzlick of Merrill, son: Tom Wenzlick of Madison, WI, son-in-law: Jim Moser Sr. of Merrill, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 1 great great grandchild is on the way, brother: Charles Hoffman of Merrill, sister: Violet (Ted) Woller of Merrill, sister-in-law: June Hoffman of Menasha, WI, honorary family member: Dan Hickson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Russell “Bud” Wenzlick, sons: Jeffrey, Kevin “Harv” and Ralph Wenzlick, daughter: Janice Moser, significant other: Andrew Sullivan, great grandchildren: Keaton, Kendall and Anthony, brothers: Harold Hoffman Jr. and Herbert Hoffman, sisters: Vivian Wittrock and Viola Hoffman, aunt: Esther Loche,  sister-in-laws: Kathy Hoffman and Marion Hoffman.

A Celebration of Life for Veleeta will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 2pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill.  Pastor Andy Perry will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 1pm until the time of the service, also at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at a later date.
