Wilma Gaeu

July 11, 1925 — July 2, 2009

Wilma Elsie Gaeu, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Merrill, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Golden Living Center - Dorchester.



She was born July 11, 1925, the daughter of Henry and Leona (Malluege) Krause. On May27, 1944 she married Carl Herbert Gaeu at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Merrill. Carl preceded her in death on July 14, 1996. Wilma was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ.



Wilma had been employed with Merrill Candy Company, Fromm Farm, and Merrill Concrete. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, playing cards and board games, mowing the lawn (very fast!), reading, polka dancing and spending time with her cat. She looked forward to family breakfasts after church. Wilma loved spending time around babies and would offer to babysit for those in need of a sitter.



Survivors include her daughter, Rita (Mike) Carmody of Carlsville; two grandsons, Michael and Matt Carmody; brother, Gordon (Virginia) Krause of Merrill; two sisters-in-law-, Ella Gaeu of Merrill and Louise Krause of Janesville and her aunt, Janet Malluege of Merrill.’ She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Herbert Gaeu(1996); son Randall Lee Gaeu (1990); sister, Evelyn (Otto) Berndt; and bother, Donald Krause.



Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Merrill with Rev. Scott Hawker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM Tuesday, July 7, at Waid Funeral Home and again Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Merrill Memorial Park.
