Valrene Helen Behrens

Valrene Helen Behrens, Merrill, died August 2, 2009 at All Saints Memory Care in Madison WI. She grew up on her parents’, Paul and Constance Duginski, farm outside of Merrill. After graduating from Our Lady of Holy Cross, she left to pursue her nursing degree in Marshfield. She then received her degree from St. Josephs School of Nursing in 1952. Val resided in Marshfield, WI providing service to that community for over 30 years as a registered nurse in the Obstetrics Department at St Joseph’s Hospital. She continued her career at Pinecrest Nursing Home after returning to Merrill, remaining in town upon retirement.

Val lived her life for her children. She truly enjoyed listening to her children and grandchildren talk about everyday experiences. As a member of St Francis Catholic parish, her gift of faith she left her children was reflected through her support of Church functions. Val also liked to cook, sew and play sheepshead with her family.

“So grieve a while for me if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It’s only for a while that we must part

So bless the memories within your heart.”
