Rosetta Roggenbuck

January 24, 1927 — March 31, 2009

Rosetta (Rosie) Hazel Roggenbuck, 82, formally of Merrill died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI. Rosie was born January 24, 1927 in Bloomville, Wisconsin to Robert and Hazel (Eckland) Drew. She was the oldest of 3 daughters. After graduating high school she attended nursing school and for a time worked in Milwaukee. Rosie also worked at Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill as a nurse for a number of years. After nursing, she was employed driving the Merrill school buses and working for Peterson Transit.

She married the late Werner George Roggenbuck on February 15, 1947. They raised 7 children on their farm in the Township of Schley.

Rosie’s hobbies included gardening, sewing and visiting friends and family. One of Rosie’s many loves was her Artic Cat. As a founding member of the Northwood’s Tree Dodgers she blazed along trails leaving many other snowmobilers in her wake. “My Cat! My Cat! My Cat!” she would joyfully taunt fellow snowmobilers. In later years Rosie and Werner loved to travel across the United States for destinations in Florida, Texas and California. Rosie particularly loved seeing wildlife. She was also understanding of Werner’s need to stop at the Golden Nugget in Vegas for one beer. There were many family gatherings, which Rosie sponsored and successfully coordinated. Everyone loved her popular and trademark specialty cakes. She greatly loved visiting with the grand children always giving support and advice. Rosie was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ where she particularly enjoyed Reverend Kuck’s sermons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Werner; Sister, Leona (Muggsie) Teschner and great granddaughter, Angel. She leaves behind one sister, Daisy Bergman (Carl); 7 children, Norman (Debby), Robert (Kathy), Raymond (Dawn), Gary (Marge), Cheryl Ritchie (Dwight), Susan Latzig (Greg), Debbie Brandt; special nephew, Ronald Roggenbuck (Winn); 19 grandchildren, Jason (Claudia), Heidi Ernst (Drew), Zachary (Amanda), Nathan, Amanda Fillmore (Scott), Charlie, Amy Zimmermann (Steve), Quinten (Becky), Mark (Krystal), Tim Ritchie (Jennifer), Tracy Ritchie, Chad Ritchie, Candy Grupe (Daniel), Jeremy Latzig, Shandra Latzig, Tony Latzig, Christopher Streich (Karen), Michelle Geise (Andy), Stephanie Brandt and 19 Great Grandchildren.
