Loretta Borgert

Loretta M. Borgert, age 82, passed away on February 28, 2015 at the Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill while under the care of Interim Hospice. Loretta was born to Walter and Mabel (Severt) Sherfinski on September 11, 1932 in Wausau, WI. She attended the Holy Cross catholic school for girls in Merrill. Loretta fell in love and married John "Jack" Borgert on December 9, 1950 in Merrill, a union lasting for 64 years. During her younger years, Loretta worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, South of the Border restaurant and Drew's Piggly Wiggly bakery/grocery store. She then retired from her job at Drew's Piggly Wiggly. Loretta really enjoyed going to Walmart, no matter what the weather was doing! After a trip to Walmart – she would enjoy her favorite meal from McDonald's – The Happy Meal. Loretta also enjoyed her family and cherished special times with them. She enjoyed taking trips, especially to Tomah and Chicago, where she had family. She would sit in the back seat and crochet the whole way. Loretta was known for collecting salt and pepper shakers and had many of them! She would occasionally enjoy taking trips to the casinos. She was an avid crafter, she especially loved doing bead work. She will be sadly missed. Loretta is survived by her husband of 64 years, John "Jack" Borgert of Merrill; 2 daughters, Debra Koepke of Merrill and Jackie (Tom "Pineapple"), of Merrill; son, Brian Borgert and his friend Patty of Merrill; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Kreie of Merrill and Jennifer (Brian) Genrich of Merrill; 4 great grandchildren, Alex, Olivia, Dylan and David; sister, Joann (Everett) Rogers of Merrill; sister, Janet (John) Fechtner of Merrill; brother, David (Sandy) Sherfinski of Merrill; sister, Patricia (Keith) Wendt of Merrill and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Sherfinski and 2 sisters; Virginia Bushar and Pamela Cupples. A private family gathering for Loretta will be held at a later date.
