Leona Doering

Leona M. Doering, age 91 of Merrill, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill. Leona was born March 24, 1922 in the Town of Schley, the daughter of the late William and Lena (Beyer) Mosser. She and Chester Doering were united in marriage January 15, 1941. Leona was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Bloomville, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She attended Heller Grade School in the Town of Schley. She worked for Semling & Menke Company from 1968-1985. She was a member of the local 2344 Union. She enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting and reading. Leona loved traveling and spending time with her family. She worked many jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles over the years. Leona was a member of AARP and had also served as the local treasurer of the organization for 2 years. She worked at the nutrition site for Park Place and Gleason for 20 years. Survivors include 7 sons: Ronald (Ramona) Doering, Merrill, Francis (Sandra) Doering, Payson, Arizona, Kermit (Joyce) Doering, Gleason, Norman (Mary) Doering, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Calvin Doering, Gleason, Philip (Sherry) Doering, Colorado Springs, Co. Melvin (Lynn) Doering, Merrill, 3 daughters: Gayle Doering, Freedom, WI Suzette (Jeffery) Kawatski, Mosinee, WI Vicky Doering, Milwaukee, WI, 4 sisters: Mildred Roman, Joanne Myska, Sharon (John) Madden, Patty Mosser, Sister-in-law: Ada Doering, all of Merrill 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester on September 13, 1985, son: Gregory and grandson: Chase Doering, 2 sisters: Alvina Folta and Dorothy Boquist and 2 brothers: Walter and William Mosser. Funeral Mass will be 11 am, Monday, December 9, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Bloomville. Fr. Don Kania will officiate, burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Sunday, December 8 at Waid Funeral Home and again from 10 am until the time of service at the church. The Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family.
