Harold Dahlke

Harold Walter Dahlke, 78, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill. He was born January 11, 1931 in Marathon City to the late Walter and Selma (Zunker) Dahlke.

Harold married Doris Steckling June 27, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Maine . He was the owner of Dahlke Shoe Repair and the former owner of Dahlke Painting, One Hour Cleaners and was currently owner of Dahlke Rental . Harold was an active member of the Lions Club, Lutheran Layman’s League and Faith Lutheran Church . He enjoyed spending time with family, storytelling, listening to Christian music, fishing, driving through Wisconsin and sharing the love of Jesus with others.

Survivors include his wife; Doris, Merrill, 5 children; Steven (Ruthann) Dahlke, Cynthia (Lyle) Wood, all of Marathon, Dean (Karen) Dahlke, Tomahawk, Rodney (Cheryl) Dahlke, Merrill, and David (Amy) Dahlke, West Des Moines, IA, 8 grandchildren; Lucas Wood, Ross Wood, Sarah Dahlke, Jacob Dahlke, Rebecca Dahlke, Christopher Dahlke, Jameson Dahlke, and Faith Dahlke, 2 step-grandchildren; Rhonda Rindo and David Hoff, 5 great grandchildren; Ethan Wood, Blake Wood, Madison Wood, Marley Maas, and Brady Wood, 3 step-great grandchildren; Brandon Latzig, Maggie Latzig and Grace Latzig, 1 brother; Douglas Dahlke, 3 sisters; June (Elroy Jr.) Roeder , Lorraine Plautz, Sharon (Merlin) Goetsch, and many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Wilbert and Hubert, and 2 sisters; Stella Schuster and Eleanor Kage.

Services will be held Monday, December 21, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church . Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 4 – 7 PM and again from 9:30 AM until the time of service all at the church. The Rev. Kevin Hoogland will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Faith Lutheran Church . Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
