Gordon Gross

December 12, 1927 — February 27, 2010

Gordon “Bucky” Dexter Gross, age 82, of Gleason, WI and San Benito, TX passed away on February 27, 2010 from a long hard fight with cancer. Gordon was born to Oswald and Frances Gross on December 12, 1927 who preceded him in death along with his two sisters Lois Neuman of Racine and Grace Bruette of Texas. Gordon was born and raised in the Gleason area. He married Gladys Bruns on March 24 th , 1951 in Merrill Presbyterian Church. He was employed at Ward Paper Co. in Merrill for 34 years. He also owned and operated White Birch Mobile Home Park from 1961-1980. He was an avid deer hunter who enjoyed hunting and in his later years hunted with a crossbow. Nothing got past him while hunting. He loved the woods, bears, birds, fishing, campfires, chocolate and his little buddy – a red squirrel. His most prized possession though was his little dog Gigi who provided him with unconditional love. He did numerous jobs of bulldozing, septic tank cleaning and logging. He was truly an outdoor person. Gordon loved to travel and camp. His love for Alaska and Canada fishing took him back there numerous times often spending the entire summer. He had fond memories of traveling through most of the US and international travels including Africa, Spain, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, and Portugal. Upon retiring, he moved to San Benito, Tx for the winter months and came back to the Gleason area for the summer months. He did many hours of volunteer work in Texas at the Texas State Mental Health Care Center and the Texas Abuse Victim Center. He was enjoyed by many for his beautiful singing voice and his great wit. Survivors include his wife Gladys, daughter Susan (Phillip) Herbig of Merrill and San Benito and a son Calvin (Debra) Gross of Green Bay and Gleason. He has enjoyed four grandchildren, one step granddaughter, seven great grandchildren and one step great grandson. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church at a later date and burial will be at the Town of Russell Cemetery in Gleason. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family.
