Glenn Mootz

November 25, 1923 — February 10, 2010

Glenn W. Mootz, Age 86 of Merrill, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.




Glenn was born November 25, 1923 in Hamburg the son of Louis and Augusta (Bartelt) Mootz. Glenn and Meta (Sauer) were united in marriage June 12, 1943 in Hamburg.




Glenn farmed on the family farm for many years, and he also was a quarry worker, he worked for the Foto News and the Boys School, where he enjoyed serving as a foster grandfather for 15 years. Glenn enjoyed dart ball, cards, camping, fishing, and woodworking. Glenn liked to collect toy cars, he also enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica.  Glenn loved to tell a good joke and he was an excellent story teller. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he belonged to the men’s club.




Surviving are: wife of 66 years, Meta ,


Three sons: Robert (Helen Kay) of Merrill,


Kenneth (Sandy) of Merrill,


Daniel (Karen) of Wausau,


Grandchildren: John (JoAnn), James (Ginnie), Leah (Adam), Lisa (Brad), Jason (Kristina), Aaron, Stacey (Michael), Tony (Leah) and Miranda


3 great grandchildren: Valerie, Caylie and  Damien,


Many nieces and nephews


Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.






Visitation will be Friday, February 12 th ,  4-8 pm at Waid Funeral Home and again Saturday 10 am until the time of service at the church.


Funeral Services will be 11 am Saturday February 13th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill, The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate.




The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
