Emma Plautz

Emma Plautz, age 85, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital in Weston. She was born November 2, 1928 in the Town of Corning to the late Henry and Marie (Constance) Mohrland. On December 15, 1951 she and William E. Plautz were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Berlin. He preceded her in death May 28, 2003. Emma worked in food service at the Eagle's Club, American Legion and South of the Border throughout the years. After her retirement from the kitchen, she enjoyed spending her time having fun. Whether it was listening to Polka music, figuring word puzzles or just sitting down and having a good laugh or joking around, you could find Emma in the middle of it all. She liked reading the newspaper and had many favorite T.V. show including Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night and NCIS. Emma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include her eight children: Nancy Simon, Fort Collins, CO, Walter (Nancy) Plautz, Karen Plautz, all of Merrill, Jean (Wayne) Altenburg, Iola, James Plautz, John (Kara Tesky) Plautz, Darlene (Ronald) Ohlmann and William "Bumpy" Plautz, all of Merrill; two grandchildren: Aaron Plautz and William (Michele) Altenburg; five great grandchildren; Brianna, Tyler, Oscheanna, Zachary and Sara; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, and 10 brothers and sisters: Mary (Henry) Weigel, Katherine (George) Krass, Helen (Sidney) Kline, Elsie Saeger, Lydia (Norman) Salefske, Ida Mohrland, Ruth (Harold) Hintz, Henry (Verna) Mohrland, Herman (Viola) (Joann) Mohrland and George (Beatrice) Mohrland. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday, November 8, 2013 at Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
