Doris Baumann

January 3, 1925 — September 6, 2010

Doris Baumann passed away on Monday, September 06, 2010 under the care of Ministry Hospice at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Doris was born on January 3, 1925 to Arthur and Amanda Aprille. Arthur died when Doris was an infant. Her mother later married Eric Schuelke and two families were blended into one. Doris and her new family grew up on a farm near Irma.

She graduated in 1946. Doris held various jobs after graduation. Doris later returned to Merrill, Wisconsin and worked for Weinbrenner Shoe Company in the office. She met Elroy Baumann in the early ‘60s and they were married on June 20, 1962. Doris and Elroy adopted Kathryn Lynn in 1967. Doris was a devoted mother. She and Elroy enjoyed life, playing cards with friends, volunteering in church, and spending time with family. They enjoyed trips to Iowa to visit their daughter and her family. Doris made friends that lasted a life-time. A friendship with Ruth Leveling began as young adults and lasted to this very day. Doris also enjoyed her special friends Amos and Vivian Woller, Duane and Verna Issacson, Marie Raudwer and Carol Zastrow to name a few. Doris and Elroy also “adopted” the Thompson family. Paul, Janet, Seth, Daniel, Morgan and Mark became very special to Doris and Elroy. Doris was fortunate to have her niece Debbie Kiefer living in Merrill. Debbie was especially good about getting the little things for Doris.

Doris is survived by many family and friends including her daughter Kathryn (Jeff) Reese, grandson Jared, all of Des Moines, Iowa, sister Elsie Schuelke, Green Bay, niece Debbie Kiefer, Merrill, and nephews Jim Stockman, Wausau, and Jerry Stockman, North Carolina, close friends: Paul, Janet, Seth, Daniel, Morgan and Mark Thompson and the wonderful staff at Pine Crest who became family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Amanda Aprille, step-father Eric Schuelke, husband Elroy Baumann, brother Hans Schuelke, sister Betty Stockman, and nephew Mike Stockman.
