Clara Roesler

Clara Roesler, 91, Merrill, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Woodland Court , Merrill, under the care of Asera Care Hospice.



Clara was born November 4, 1918 in the Town of Berlin to the late August and Lydia (Ollhoff) Plautz. She married Edwin Roesler July 24, 1937 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1986. She then married Harry Milbeck December 29, 1990. He also preceded her in death.



Clara was a housewife on a farm near Athens . She loved fishing, playing cards, gardening, sewing, snowmobiling and quilting. Clara was an area reporter for the Medford , WI newspaper. She made over 500 quilts for sick children in hospitals-she started this at age 83 and finished at age 90. Clara was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ and the Hamburg Lions Club.



Survivors include her 3 children: Ken (Lois) Roesler, Wausau , Joanne (Tony) Gesicki, Minocqua, and Gene (Sandi) Roesler, St. Point; special niece Sherry Plautz (Jim) Viegut, Abbotsford; 4 grandchildren: Robin Roesler-Kealey, Minneapolis, MN, Lance Roesler, Madison, Holly (Jeff) Roesler-Walz, Dubuque, Iowa, and Jesse (Jen) Roesler, Minneapolis, MN; 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Hilma Manthei-Sawyer, Wausau, and Lorraine Grunenwald, Merrill; 2 brothers: Donald Plautz, Wausau and Ervin Plautz, Merrill.



She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands: Edwin Roesler and Harry Milbeck, and 1 sister, Mary Jane Smith.



Services will be held Monday March 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Hawker will officiate. Burial will take place in the Athens Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 2-6 PM Sunday, March 28 at Waid Funeral Home and again Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 at the church. Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
