Ben Yunek

Ben Yunek Jr. age 87, of Merrill, died Monday, February 15, unexpectedly at his home.

Ben was born September 2, 1922 in Ogema , WI the son of Ben and Margaret (Kiska) Yunek Sr. Ben and Agnes “Butz” Fritsche were united in marriage July 22, 1944 in Peoria , Illinois .

Ben was a 1941 graduate of Marathon High School . He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe as a Motor pool Srgt. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Ben worked in the body shop at Rosemurgy Motors in Wausau retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. Ben enjoyed spending time in his yard, watching the animals and just being home.

4 great grandchildren: Beth, Charles, Benjamin and Hailey

1 sister: Emily Edinger of Omega, WI

2 brothers: Delare (Judy) Yunek of Omega, WI

John Yunek of Houston , TX

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Annabel Wheeler.

Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 20, at St. Francis Catholic Church, The Rev. Fr. James Horath will officiate.
