Alan Brandenburg, 72, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at his home. He was born November 6, 1942 in Merrill to the late Edwin and Martha (Beilke) Brandenburg. Alan married Lois Luedtke at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill on August 24, 1963.
He was raised on the family farm in rural Merrill, and attended a country school. He was a farmer and a logger in the Merrill area for over 50 years. In his spare time, Alan enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, fishing, playing cards, watching old Western movies, and listening to country and polka music. Alan is survived by his wife, Lois; five children: Tammy (Kelvin) Baumann of Merrill, WI, Debbie (Brad) Kottke of Athens, WI, Annette (Robert Bethany) Andrew of Camden, SC, Ginny (Mike/Moose) Klade of Merrill, WI, Joy (Jerod) Krueger of Rothschild, WI, five grandchildren: Casey Baumann, Steve Kottke, SamiJo (Joel) Coates, David Brandenburg, Royce Krueger; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren: Dayton Kottke, Jase Coates, expecting another great grandchild soon, and nine step great grandchildren, niece, Karen Sabatke (Eric Roth), nephew, Dennis (Mary) Sabatke, brother-in-law, Phillip (Sue) Luedtke, sister-in-law, Nancy (Dan) Smith, and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by; parents; Edwin and Martha, sister, Dorothy, father-in-law, Roland Luedtke, mother-in-law, Irene Luedtke, Uncle Walter Beilke, Aunt Linda and Lawrence Buzza, Uncle Hugo and Alvera Beilke, and Uncle Walter Brandenburg. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Waid funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will follow at Faith North Cemetery Town of Maine. Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Online tributes maybe made at www.waidfuneral.com.
